I can now understand why binge eating can be so satisfying. In Hungry Shark Evolution you will be guiding a shark in attacking and eating as often as possible. Almost anything that it can find under and over the blue ocean waves is fair game. "Hold on" you might say, "Why can't I take my time? You know, digestion is important". It might be in real life, but this shark's metabolism is quite remarkable. Its life and energy drops a considerable amount as time passes without munching on something. So in order to stay alive, you will need to constantly hunt for things to eat.

No worries here, though. The sea is full of turtles, schools of fish, crustaceans, smaller sharks, bigger sharks and stupid tourists. Eating is easy. You just need to face towards your victim and advance. The shark will devour it with a rather satisfying animation. Direction controls are a bit rough. You can use two control modes, a directional stick or tilt based movement. You will also be sprinting by holding another finger on the screen in both modes. I discovered that tilting controls are somewhat easier to master. Besides offering a finer arc of movement, they can also be re-calibrated on the fly.

Eating fish and other morsels will also give you coins, which you can use between runs to purchase upgrades for speed, boost time and munching efficiency. Your shark will also grow over time. Once it reaches its maximum level you will be able to spend coins on a new bigger and better shark. There aren't many 'models' in the basic offer, but Hungry Shark Evolution has many bonuses and secrets that unlock more exotic elements such as prehistoric fish or sub-orbital flight equipment.

All in all, I'm finding this game a ton of fun. The graphical presentation is good and although the controls aren't the best in the world, the general gameplay and unlockables really make up for it.
